Stroop! There It Is! (Amsterdam II)

Stroop, the syrupy substance favored by the Dutch, is a main ingredient in “Stroopwafels,” a sugary little snack that I may or may not be developing a slight addiction to. This of course goes along with my addiction to sparkling water, however, which is a lot healthier. I still think the best kind is Talking Rain and am constantly disappointed that I can’t find it anywhere but Seattle—oh how I need some of the berry flavor right now!

Lessons from A Broad (Amsterdam I)

In light of my recent return from Amsterdam, I will be adding a smattering of posts here and there with some knowledge I picked up there. Here’s a few things to start with:

“Wait, how many nights did you go out and party this week?”

“Mom, I’m abroad–everyone parties when they’re abroad!”

Space & Time

I’m quite intrigued by the difference between “real time” and “perceived time.” As in, how the time on the clock may differ from the time we feel as though we’ve spent on something. The time between each tick on the clock feels different during an intensive ab exercise than during a song that lasts for the same number of minutes. I wonder at our choice to label these things as real or perceived. Depending on how you view the universe, the time which is perceived may indeed be more “realistic” to our lives.
